Duke Basketball: ESPN's Favorite, Painfully Average Son

Perhaps it’s just bitterness because of the orgasm of hyperbole that I just had; after that, it’s pretty frustrating that ESPN won’t even air John Wall’s debut tonight, going with Duke vs. Coastal Carlolina instead. Maybe I’m just bitter.

Or perhaps it’s something else entirely: common sense. And eyes. And I can count. After tonight, 11 of Duke’s 26 games will be on ESPN this year, compared to just 4 ESPN games for rival UNC—you know, an actual top 5 team—and just 9 for Kentucky.

Would you like to watch superstar freshman like John Wall and Eric Bledsoe for UK tonight? Well, too bad. And get used to it. The Duke Blue Devils only play in prime time, baby! And what’s college basketball without Duke? Athletic?

Kyle Singler! Jon Scheyer! Live at 7 on ESPN!

Fun-da-men-tals!

Hey Mr. Sharp,

Sorry we here at ESPN value teamwork, hard work, dedication, success and a bunch of douchebags who dress up in Blue and White. Sorry that Kyle Singler’s 14 inch vertical isn’t “athletic” enough for you. Sorry that Jon Scheyer’s facial expressions may look like he is reduced to tears everytime he has to guard someone who isn’t also 6’5" and 140 lbs.

Waaahhhh!!!

Cry me a river, Andrew. ESPN knows what it’s doing, and it knows that Duke, whether it is better or worse than UNC, or has players better or worse than John Wall, brings more viewers than any other college basketball team.

You can’t argue with ratings.
