6'4'', 6'5'', 6'5'' and 6'5'' - that's how tall Antonio Gates, Vincent Jackson, Malcolm Floyd and Kassim Osgood run. After replacing the "short" 5'11'' Chris Chambers with Floyd in the starting lineup this weekend, the Chargers have apparently decided that they no longer have any need for a receiver who couldn't double as an NBA shooting guard, releasing Chambers today.
For Chambers, it's a long way down (see what we just did there) for someone who was supposed to revive the Chargers' passing game when he came over in a mid-season trade from Miami in 2007. Despite the hoopla, Chambers failed to stand out in the Chargers' potent passing game this season - he only had 122 receiving yards on the year - despite starting in six games.
Chambers is now officially on waivers -- each team has until 4 p.m. tomorrow to put in a claim on him.
