In the past, Gilbert Arenas has made as many headlines for his words off the court as he has for his play on it. And that’s saying something, since he’s a two-time all-star that’s been the heart and soul of the Washington Wizards for several seasons now.
But this season, he’s not talking. And it’s just… awkward. And kind of depressing.
Some might point to his “I don’t get excited anymore” as the most telling quote there, but this was even moreso:
Reporter: Hey Gilbert you want to talk about the hype and excitement in this city surrounding the team this year?
Arenas: Hmm. Not really. You know, uh… (shrugs shoulders).
The entire interview was so cold and lifeless… What happened to paintball wars with Nick Young and “three guys who were at my house hooking up stereo equipment”? He ended that story like so: “The moral of the story: I had fun.”
Can the real Gilbert Arenas come back now?
