Bucks Fans: 'Here We Go Again'

You have to feel for Bucks fans. They’ve had to suffer through one 50-win season in 20 years, countless rebuilding efforts and multiple fades back into irrelevancy. When was the last time the Bucks had a "buzz" player like Brandon Jennings, for example? Terry Cummings? Sidney Moncrief? Kareem Abdul-Jabaar?

So don’t blame them if they’re expecting the worst with Andrew Bogut’s injury, as SB Nation’s Bucks blog Brew Hoop writes:

As always seems to be the case when Bogut gets injured, the Bucks’ description isn’t particularly informative—kind of like the "leg sprain" Bogut suffered in October 2006 (His whole leg was sprained? What does that even mean?) or the misdiagnosed back injury that ended his season a year ago. As you might remember, Bogut took less than a month to recover from his leg sprain, which was initially thought to shelve him for 6-8 weeks. I’m not sure how similar this injury is, but hopefully he again beats expectations and is back in a week or two (and yes, I’m blocking out what happened last year, when the exact opposite happened with his back injury…happy thoughts, happy thoughts).

Bogut’s back injury was the straw that broke the Bucks’ back last season. The Bucks had a stranglehold on the eighth spot in the East before Bogut went down, but then proceeded to lose 16 of their last 22 games and fall way out of contention. Here’s hoping the Bogut injury doesn’t stunt Milwaukee’s early-season momentum this season. It’d be a shame for Brandon Jennings to miss the playoffs.

Bucks Center Andrew Bogut Out 2-4 Weeks With Leg Strain

Led by rookie dynamo Brandon Jennings, the Milwaukee Bucks have been one of the surprise teams of the early NBA season. But bad news struck for the Bucks Thursday night, as news emerged that center Andrew Bogut, the team's top low-post threat and lynchpin of their stifling defense, will miss the next 2-4 weeks after suffering a left leg strain in the Bucks' win over New Jersey Wednesday.

Veterans Kurt Thomas and Dan Gadzuric are expected to take most of Bogut's minutes in the interim.
