Herschel Walker's MMA debut is set according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution's sports editor Twitter account:
Heisman winner Herschel Walker, 47, will make his MMA debut Jan. 30 at BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Fla. Story to come shortly.
No word as of yet on who Walker's opponent will be but one can assume he's not going to get thrown into the deep end in this (or any) of his fights.
Herschel signed a deal with the Strikeforce promotion back in September. The signing was criticized from multiple angles by fans due to confirmation of Walker's struggle with multiple personality disorder and the fact that he has, at times, seemed a little "off" to the observer.
UFC president Dana White even took the time to openly ask the question "Who the [expletive] are they going to get to fight Herschel Walker?"
SBNation.com will have more details as they emerge.

He just doesn't know how to play poker.
I didn’t see anything in that video to make me think that he was “off”. He just, plain out, doesn’t know how to play poker. We will see just how old he is in his first bout.

If you watch him talk in that video…and compare it to him talking when he played football…it’s a different sounding voice

This needs to be scrutinized very closely in my opinion.
I read what I thought was a great interview the other day where someone was questioning a promoter about letting Junie Browning fight given his legal situation combined with his current state of mind. I hope someone takes the time to ask Strikeforce and the Athletic Commission that has to sanction Mr. Walker some tough questions as well. If only to make sure they have consulted with the proper medical specialists and that they are fully aware of any dangers in allowing someone with a serious mental disorder such as Mr. Walker’s to fight.
Questions like are there any added risks if Mr. Walker gets K.O.’d and suffers a concussion and possibly post concussion syndrome from that. What effect if any could that have on his mental disorder?
Just BE.

Yes.
Thought you asked some tough but fair questions given the circumstances. I thought it was a great interview that shined a light on a potential problem.
Just BE.
