With the injury bug biting the UFC so hard the promotion has been left scrambling for main events for their cards. Originally they were pushing for Anderson Silva to defend his middleweight title against Vitor Belfort at the February event, but Silva has been dropping hints again that his elbow isn't likely to allow that fight to happen.
Dana White has dropped hints that he thinks Georges St. Pierre v. Dan Hardy would sell well in Las Vegas and then at the Q and A session White flat out said that the fight was going to happen in February. This would leave it at either 109 in Vegas or 110 in Australia. It isn't hard to put one and one together and come up with this fight happening at UFC 109.
GSP/Hardy would add a much needed title fight at the top of the Super Bowl weekend show. With Silva not fighting on the show the top fight at this point would be Randy Couture vs. Mark Coleman which is not strong enough that it can carry an entire card on pay-per-view.
