This past week, Doc Rivers told the media he’d gone out of his way to talk to Rasheed Wallace about taking less threes:
"I got on him, and I rarely do, about the threes,’’ Rivers said of Wallace. "Because even though he was wide open, it’s really tough. I mean, he was wide open and he took two, but we had just taken two quick ones. But he’s got an incredibly high basketball IQ. … So, I’m just happy to have him.’’
So what did Rasheed do? Why, the very next night, he went 0-8 from downtown, of course.
As Fanhouse notes, he’s making just 28% of his threes, despite taking more than just about anyone in the league. He’s made only seven of his last 45 attempts. Back in October, in an NBA preview, we wrote this:
In the NBA, you can tell how lazy someone is by the amount of perimeter jumpers they take vs. the amount of times they drive the lane. Put it this way: ‘Sheed takes A LOT of perimeter jumpers.
And he’s one of several problems currently facing the Boston Celtics. Now, does this make him any less awesome? Of course not. It’s almost time for Christmas music, which means we can totally run this video:
