Sidney Crosby scored on the power play 3:07 into overtime after Michael Rupp netted the equalizer late in the third, as the Penguins cooled off the Florida Panthers in a 3-2 victory.
Milan Lucic’s score late in the second period proved to be the winner, as Boston doubled up St. Louis 4-2. Mark Recchi, Blake Wheeler and Marco Sturm also tallied for the Bruins, who have won three in a row. Patrice Bergeron assisted on all four goals, while Tuukka Rask got the win with 29 stops.
Marty Turco stopped 22 shots for his second shutout of the season as the Dallas Stars topped the Carolina Hurricanes, 2-0, at American Airlines Center. Brad Richards had a goal and an assist while Jamie Benn scored the other goal for the Stars, who have won three of their last four.
David Jones scored two goals to lead the Colorado Avalanche to a 5-4 win over the Philadelphia Flyers at Pepsi Center. Cody McLeod, Paul Stastny and Scott Hannan also scored for Colorado, which nearly blew a three-goal lead in the third period but held on to halt a two- game skid.
Jeff Deslauriers made 36 saves for his first career shutout to help the Edmonton Oilers take a 4-0 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes. Sheldon Souray had a goal and an assist for the Oilers, who had lost five of six coming into the game.
Finally, Jean-Sebastien Giguere made 41 saves in his first victory of the season despite allowing Jarome Iginla's tying goal with 18 seconds left in regulation, and Teemu Selanne scored the only shootout goal in the Anaheim Ducks' 3-2 victory over the Calgary Flames.
