Does this look like someone who might profess a particular affinity for swagger? No? Well, prepare to have your mind blown. That's NBC correspondent Chuck Todd, and today he tweets:
Trying to get my arms around #theU doc airing on ESPN next month. Hope it doesn't simply deal in stereotypes. ... #theU swagger is fun to love and bash, but real contribution to college football was on the field. From speed to modernizing offense.
He's speaking in reference to ESPN's forthcoming documentary on University of Miami's glory years, and he's exactly right. Miami's "swagger" is fun to bash, but that program also modernized the college game, something that too often goes shortchanged because of common stereotypes.
Clearly, Chuck Todd keeps it realer than that. He sounds like an educated, enthusiastic disciple of Miami's swagerrific tradition. Awesome.
And anyone familiar with Rakontur, the guys directing the film as part of ESPN's 30 for 30 series, knows that Chuck has nothing to worry about. These are the people behind the fabulous "Cocaine Cowboys", and their new project, "Dawg Fight", which has a chance to be the coolest movie of all time. The Miami tradition could not be in better hands.
As for "The U" here's a preview:
It airs December 12th, on ESPN. Get excited.
