Injury Not On Manning's Mind

Eli Manning said today that the “stress reaction” foot injury isn’t anything that he’s worried about:

So Monday, when Manning told reporters on a conference call his latest foot injury “isn’t something that I think will linger or bother me,” consider his track record.

“When I go out there, I’m not thinking about it,” said the Giants’ quarterback. “When I’m playing the games, I’m not thinking about it and worrying about it.”

Manning did admit he’s been affected in at least one area.

“When you have to go to the training room and get treatment, it just kind of throws your schedule out of whack,” he said, adding: “I’m a guy that doesn’t like to be in the training room and I try to avoid it as much as possible. I only go in there when I truly need it.
“That’s been probably the biggest annoyance – just trying to deal with it.”

Manning’s injury is still being monitored, as some believe it could end his season.

Big Blue View: What Else Can Go Wrong?

It’s crazyhow much things have changed for the Giants in six weeks. They started the year 5-0 and seemed a sure thing for the playoffs. Now at 6-5 and coming off a demoralizing loss to Denver, the Giants’ playoff hopes dim each week. News that Eli Manning’s foot might eventually lead to a season-ending injury is par for the course these days, says Big Blue View.

Eli Manning Has "Stress Reaction" In Foot, According To Sources

ESPN is reporting that a recent MRI has revealed a "stress reaction" in Eli Manning's cuboid bone.  While not something that would keep him from playing on its own, it could lead to a season-ending stress fracture if more injuries are sustained.

Before any stress fracture develops, the Giants are aggressively treating the stress reaction, trying to get Manning to stay off it as much as possible, having him wear extra supportive shoes and using a bone stimulator on the injured area.

For now, the stress reaction is not enough to sideline Manning. But Manning has been spotted favoring the foot, which he was doing as recently as Thursday night, when he was seen limping at times.

Manning has been dealing with foot issues all season long.  He dealt with plantar fasciitis when the season started and aggravated the injury as the season went on.   Playing through the injury, Manning was 24-of-40 for 230 yards and an interception in Thursday night's 26-6 loss in Denver.
