Dan Snyder finally broke his public silence this afternoon by speaking to the media after unveiling a new high school football field the Redskins helped rehab. (See! Snyder can do good things.) His thoughts on the team in a surprise address to the media:
“I feel bad for the fans,” he said. “I feel sorry for the fans. And we’re very, very appreciative of our great, loyal fan base. And I’m understanding; I mean, we just feel terrible. We’re disappointed and we’re embarrassed. And we hope to get it going soon. We’re disappointed.”
The high school marching band conveniently started playing, which cut the unplanned media session short, allowing only NBC’s Lindsay Czarniak to get any questions in. She tossed Snyder several softballs, which you can read over at The Redskins Blog. She’s a television reporter, after all, which was all part of Snyder’s big plan, you see?
Classic Snyder, breaking public silence by speaking at a charity event he knew that would not include any beat writers.
This is because beat writers — you know, the people who might actually ask Snyder some real questions — do not care about charity events; they care about things that actually impact the team. But you know who DOES care about charity events? Lindsay Czarniak and other local TV news anchors.
Dan Snyder, you evil genius you. You win again! /shakes fist
