The American shoe industry is pretty top-heavy. If you’re an NBA player, and you don’t score a deal with Adidas or Nike, chances are you’re not a very good NBA player. Or your name is Shaquille O’Neal. Which is why it’s moderately interesting that Hasheem Thabeet decided to sign a deal with Li Ning, a Chinese shoe manufacturer that agent Bill Duffy says will help make Thabeet “the face of Africa.” China and Africa together? What could possibly go wrong?
