Notre Dame AD Jack Swarbrick Discusses Weis Firing

Notre Dame's athletic director, Jack Swarbrick, held a lengthy press conference Monday evening, in which he addressed the timing of the firing (Weis knew it was coming), the criteria the Irish brass will be looking for in a replacement (winning games while staying well away from the lush fields of partial qualifiers would be swell), and the progress of the search itself, which is where we find this interesting tidbit:

Q. Have any potential candidates been approached in any way, shape or form?

JACK SWARBRICK: Absolutely not.

Q. So as of right now, no contact has been made in any way?

JACK SWARBRICK: None.

You know what this means, right? The writing's on the wall. Bob Stoops AND Urban Meyer will be hired as co-head coaches before the week is out. They're just playing it coy.  Real coy.

Get Moving

As a season ticket holder for ND Football, it makes me want to “think about” retaining my tix for next year (Weis’ firing)…What a mess Weis created and is now leaving…I have watched up-close and first hand on several occasions where this talented team was out-coached and out-played by inferior programs (no disrespect to Navy, UConn, Stanford, etc.) for one reason, the team was not ready to “leave it on the field” every time they walked out of the tunnel; that is the true sign of coaching!!! How can anyone tell me that the Naval Academy can “out physical” a team that starts several players that will be drafted in the NFL (the Naval Academy has zero)…This team was better than that, and if they stay together for one more year, you will see what they can do when motivated to perform at a higher level than they thought they could play at (does anyone out there believe that Weis could get anyone to perform at levels never thought they could achieve??)…Pleeez…
