Far be it from me to tell a man like Frank Shamrock, who could squeeze my head into a much smaller, no-longer-functional mini-head with his weak hand, what to do … but dude, this seems like a bad idea:
“I’m looking at fighting for eight more years,” Shamrock told FanHouse on Wednesday. “I’m in good shape, and this is what I do. I’m a martial artist.”
Shamrock is already 36, and he’s already severely waned as a fighter. This seems like the sort of thing that could get Shamrock seriously, permanently injured, and for what? More money?

Uh, yea? More money is exactly.
The early days of MMA couldn’t have been that profitable for fighters (or anyone.) Frank seems like he did better than most and probably has made more money outside the ring, but there’s a lot more money in the pot for the upper end shows nowadays, and fighters who were on top are usually able to convince themselves they’re not far off that point (or at least, able to convince promoters with money to burn.)
