…or maybe it went straight to Portland instead.

Here’s your box score for this 113-99 loss. Read it along with me…

The two eye opening stats. 1) The Jazz shot 53%. 2) The Jazz had 14 offensive rebounds which was 41% of their missed shots. You will win approximately 1 game out of 82 giving up those numbers.

Deron Williams ate the Spurs lunch. I was so disgusted by our defense I failed to be impressed by his masterful game. He scored 27 points, dished out 9 assists, and grabbed 7 rebounds. He also played some great defense on Tony in the second half holding him to just 4 points.

San Antonio plays in Portland tonight. Hopefully their defense will make the flight this time.

Jazz Get Much Needed Win, Top Spurs 113-99

Salt Lake City, UT (Sports Network) - Deron Williams filled the stat sheet with 27 points, nine assists and seven rebounds, boosting the Utah Jazz to a 113-99 win over the San Antonio Spurs.

Carlos Boozer added 27 points and 14 rebounds for the Jazz, who snapped a two- game skid. They blew a 16-point lead in the fourth quarter at Dallas Tuesday night, when Dirk Nowitzki went nuts by scoring 29 of his 40 points in the final frame, on the way to a 96-85 Utah loss. Utah also fell apart in the fourth quarter of a 113-96 home loss to Houston on Monday.

"For us we've got to finish off games like we did tonight," stated Boozer. "We came back and got a great effort. We should have won both of those games (Houston and Dallas). We've got to finish off games. Tonight we came back; everyone had a good effort, especially at the defensive end."

Tim Duncan had 15 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks for the Spurs, who were coming off a 19-point home win over Sacramento Saturday.

Williams, who went 11-of-19 from the field, recorded 14 of his points during the third quarter. One free throw from Richard Jefferson moved the Spurs within 62-53 early in the third, but Williams and Boozer each hit jumpers to stem the tide and Utah went ahead by as many as 15 later in the quarter, settling for a 93-80 cushion moving to the fourth.

The Spurs never got the margin under double digits in the last 12 minutes.

"It was a good win for us. We need to put together a full 48 minutes of basketball, and we came out and did that tonight," said Williams. "We just did a good job of executing tonight. We stayed within our offense, we got good shots, and we got stops when we needed them. We didn't allow them to get too many runs."

Tony Parker led the way with 21 points for the visitors, while Jefferson and DeJuan Blair each scored 14. Blair also had nine rebounds.

The Jazz used an 18-8 run in the first quarter to take control. Wesley Matthews, who finished with 12 points, capped the burst with a three-point play in the final minute for a 32-20 advantage.

Manu Ginobili's tip-in culminated the quarter for the Spurs, but the Jazz widened the lead back to double-digits. Boozer's layup moved the difference to 42-27 with 8:15 remaining in the half. The lead stood at 60-50 at intermission.

"They played much better. They went to the boards harder," said Ginobili. "We know they are a tough team, and we didn't match their toughness and aggressiveness. It's the way Utah plays. Usually we are good enough to match their energy."

It was the most points for the Jazz against the Spurs since a 116-93 victory on April 7, 1997. This marks the first time the Jazz has scored 100 points or more vs. the Spurs in a win since February 28, 1999 (101-87)...The Jazz snapped a four-game series skid...The Spurs have lost seven of their last 10 trips to Salt Lake City...San Antonio plays at Portland Friday night, while Utah's next game is Saturday at home against Sacramento...Ginobili had 11 points for San Antonio, while Mehmet Okur and Ronnie Brewer netted 10 for Utah.
