Nov 6, 2009 - Looking to bolster their core of defensive backs, the Broncos signed veteran Ty Law to a deal on Friday, pending a physical:
Kevin Poston, Law's agent, confirmed the news Friday in an email to The Associated Press. The agreement came after Denver's media availability and a Broncos spokesman said the team had no comment.
Law is expected to sign the deal Saturday, pending the passing of his physical. He may even make it out to practice as the Broncos (6-1) prepare to host the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday night.
The 35-year-old Law, a five-time Pro Bowl selection, will fit right in with veterans Champ Bailey, Andre' Goodman, Brian Dawkins and Renaldo Hill, all in their 30s.
Law will most likely not see any time against any team's best wide receivers, but he could if the Broncos face any injuries to their already old defensive backs.
SB Nation's Mile High Report believes this is a "weird move:"
Decorated, yes - but is there a need? It is true that rookie Alphonso Smith and Jack Williams have been up and down as the Nickel corners, but will the addition of Law help that?
