Bloomington, IN (Sports Network) – John Clay and Montee Ball each rushed for over 100 yards and combined for three touchdowns on the ground, as 24th-ranked Wisconsin held off Indiana, 31-28, at Memorial Stadium.

Clay ran 15 times for 134 yards and Ball had 27 rushes for 115 yards and a pair of scores for the Badgers (7-2, 4-2 Big Ten), who won their second in a row and beat the Hoosiers for a fifth straight time. Scott Tolzien connected on 11-of-20 passes for 194 yards with a touchdown. Nick Toon caught five balls for 123 yards in the win.

Ben Chappell completed 25-of-35 passes for 323 yards with three TDs and a pair of interceptions for the Hoosiers (4-6, 1-5), who have lost three in a row and six of their last seven contests. Tandon Doss caught six balls for 92 yards and two touchdowns.

Ball’s three-yard TD run pushed Wisconsin’s lead to 31-21 with 8:18 left in the game. It capped a seven-play, 78-yard march, highlighted by a 44-yard connection from Tolzien to Toon.

The Hoosiers bounced right back with an 80-yard scoring march, culminated by a two-yard run up the middle to the end zone from Trea Burgess on a fourth down play with 4:01 remaining.

Facing a 3rd-and-8 at their own 32, the Badgers moved the chains with Tolzien throwing 17 yards to Toon. Wisconsin ran out the remaining time.

The Hoosiers grabbed the early 7-0 lead courtesy of Chappell’s 11-yard touchdown toss to Doss just 4:16 into the game. The score came after David Gilreath fumbled a punt return for the Badgers.

Tolzien’s 18-yard TD strike to Isaac Anderson tied the game just over two minutes later. Clay’s 48-yard run moved Wisconsin into Hoosiers territory before the Badgers finished off the 77-yard drive.

Brown broke free on a 52-yard run on 4th-and-3 on the first play of the second quarter, moving the ball to the Indiana one, but the Badgers were hurt by an offensive pass interference penalty and had to settle for a Philip Welch 26- yard field goal.

Chris Maragos picked off Chappell on Indiana’s ensuing possession, and the Badgers moved ahead 17-7 on Ball’s one-yard scoring run up the middle.

Chappell’s 46-yard touchdown pass to Doss got the Hoosiers within three points again with 2:32 remaining in the half, but Clay scored on a 14-yard run with just over a minute left.

Chappell was picked off by Chris Borland at the Wisconsin four early in the third, but the Hoosiers later pulled within three again on Terrance Turner’s six-yard TD reception with 12 minutes left in the game.

Wisconsin hosts Michigan next Saturday, while the Hoosiers play at Penn State…Indiana’s Ray Fisher missed the contest with a knee injury. He headed into Saturday leading the Big Ten with 37.4 yards per kickoff return. He has taken two kickoffs back for touchdowns this season…This was Clay’s eighth career game of rushing for at least 100 yards…The Badgers hold a 36-18-2 lead in the all-time series…Wisconsin outgained the Hoosiers, 488-386.

Update: No. 13 Pittsburgh 37, Syracuse 10: Panthers Stomp Big East Neighbor, Improve To 8-1

Syracuse was drubbed, but Orange fans have plenty to say. Check out SB Nation’s Syracuse blog, Troy Nunes Is An Absolute Magician, for more.

Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) – Dion Lewis ran for 110 yards with a touchdown and Bill Stull threw for 225 yards with a score, as 14th-ranked Pittsburgh rolled to a 37-10 victory over Syracuse at Heinz Field.

Lewis averaged 6.1 yards on 18 carries in the freshman’s sixth 100-yard performance of the season for Pittsburgh (8-1, 5-0 Big East), which is off to its first 8-1 start since 1982 when Dan Marino was behind center. The Panthers are also unbeaten after five Big East games for the first time since 2002, although that team went on to lose its last two conference games.

Stull completed 16-of-23 passes in Pitt’s fifth straight victory, while Dorin Dickerson caught seven balls for 118 yards with a score.

Pittsburgh hosts Notre Dame next week before taking a week off, then visits West Virginia before closing the campaign with a home game against Cincinnati in what could be a matchup for the conference title and a BCS berth.

Delone Carter was the lone bright spot for Syracuse, rushing for 143 yards on 17 carries. He became the first back to reach 100 yards on the ground against Pittsburgh this season.

The Orange (3-6, 0-4) had a rough week off the field, as leading receiver Mike Williams quit on Monday and defensive end Jared Kimmel saw his season come to a close because of a knee injury that will require surgery. Also, three players were suspended by head coach Doug Marrone. Running back Antwon Bailey, defensive end Torrey Ball and guard Andrew Tiller were punished for violating team rules.

Syracuse quarterback Greg Paulus, booed by the Carrier Dome crowd last week in a loss to Cincinnati, was sacked four times and completed just 12-of-18 passes for 120 yards with a pair of interceptions — one that was returned for a touchdown.

Matt Bosher kicked a 42-yard field goal just over six minutes into the game, but Virginia tied the game later in the quarter on Robert Randolph's 34-yard kick. The field goal came shortly after Ras-I Dowling picked off Harris.

A blocked punt by the Cavaliers helped them grab a 10-3 lead later in the first quarter. Jackson rushed over right tackle for a 34-yard score.

Leonard Hankerson broke a tackle, on the way to a 35-yard scoring reception for Miami, tying the game at 10 with 2:15 left in the first.

Collier then moved Miami in front for good with his highlight-reel punt return. He caught the ball on one side of the field, shed a couple of tacklers, picked up a pair of crushing blocks and rolled down the sideline for the score with 1:17 remaining in the opening quarter.

Harris' five-yard TD pass to Jimmy Graham early in the second opened a 24-10 lead, but Bill Schautz ran back a blocked punt 20 yards for a score for Virginia with 2 1/2 minutes left in the half.
