That was sarcasm in the headline. This next sentence is just fact: Matt Stafford's Lions return today saw Stafford go 22-of-42 for 203 yards, two touchdowns, and five -- yes, five -- interceptions. Those picks saddled Stafford with a 42.0 quarterback rating, which is probably not what Lions fans had in mind when their favorite team drafted Stafford No. 1 overall.
That said, there's a bright side, which is that Stafford is clearly talented. He is struggling, but just as often he's looked like a full-blown pro quarterback. This is what some rookie quarterbacks do. It's far too early to get discouraged. Yet.
