Barry Bonds hasn't played in a Major League Baseball game since 2007, but he also still hasn't officially retired. Whenever he's asked about his playing days being over, Bonds continues to say he is in shape and can help any team willing to sign him, but his agent Jeff Borris has had no luck finding his client a job. Most people within Major League Baseball (and that thing we at SB Nation like to call 'reality') acknowledge that Bonds' playing days are entirely behind him. It seems his agent is finally catching on:
"It's two years since he played his last game, and if there was any chance he'd be back in a major-league uniform, it would have happened by now," agent Jeff Borris told The Chronicle. "When 2008 came around, I couldn't get him a job. When 2009 came around, I couldn't get him a job. Now, 2010 ... I'd say it's nearly impossible. It's an unfortunate ending to a storied career."
I can't say I agree that this is an 'unfortunate' ending to Bonds' career (a career that I'd like to remind Jeff Borris ended over two years ago), but I certainly agree that his career is over. Despite the fact that Bonds and Borris may be correct in saying he could help an AL team in need of a DH, no team is going to take that chance now.

I remember
I remember some talk about the Blue Jays picking Bonds up as a DH a few years back … thank God we didn’t go that route after seeing how Lind is doing

Just rearrange the letters in “storied” career, and you get a much more accurate picture of the Bonds legacy…
