Report: Notre Dame Will Name Brian Kelly As Next Head Coach

After nearly a week's worth of rumors, University of Cincinnati head coach Brian Kelly will be named the next coach of Notre Dame, according to the South Bend Tribune. The paper sites two university sources who have inside information about the search process.

According to the report, Kelly will meet with his team at the Cincinnati football banquet Thursday night to inform them of his decision. This would explain why the banquet was unexpectedly closed to the media earlier in the afternoon.

More to come as it unfolds. In the mean time, feel free to join the celebration over at SB Nation's Irish blog, Rakes Of Mallow.

I completely understand him taking the job, but why didn’t he tell his players the truth about his interest in ND like Turner gill did?
