As it turns out, Kobe Bryant’s return to Friday night’s game following a finger injury was a solid indicator of his prognosis. Bryant plans to play through the pain.
“I’m concerned,” Kobe admitted. “But you just try to play through it and figure things out. Tomorrow will probably be the worst of it, then you just go from there.”
On FanHouse, Tom Ziller (of our own Sactown Royalty) points out that playing through a finger avulsion isn’t new to Kobe:
n fact, Kobe has had an avulsion fracture of the finger before: you may remember incessant coverage of Bryant’s toughness in playing with ligament damage in his pinkie during the 2008 playoffs, the Olympics and the entire 2008-09 championship season. That ligament damage was accompanied by an avulsion fracture.
