December 13 - Chestnut Hill, MA (Sports Network) - Keith Cothran scored 19 points to power the Rhode Island Rams to an 80-69 decision over the Boston College Eagles in non-league play.
Delroy James added 15 points for Rhode Island (8-1), which got 13 points from Lamonte Ulmer. Both Akeem Richmond and Orion Outerbridge tallied 11 points for the Rams.
Rakim Sanders posted 14 points in the loss for Boston College (6-4). Joe Trapani netted 13 points, Reggie Jackson had 11 points, and both Biko Paris and Corey Raji finished with 10 points apiece. Raji also pulled down 11 rebounds.
Rhode Island led 33-25 at intermission on the strength of a 6-of-8 shooting effort from three-point range in the first half.
The Rams sealed the victory with a 52.9 percent shooting effort from the field over the final 20 minutes.
Rhode Island overcame a 38-31 rebounding disadvantage in the tilt by holding Boston College to 3-of-17 efficiency from three-point range.
