As crippling long-term contracts go, Elton Brand's has got to be up there, right? The 76ers signed him to a huge deal in 2008, and Brand has been a shell of himself since. If the 76ers weren't currently employing Allen Iverson, this would get more attention.
Brand's play has slipped so much that 76ers coach Eddie Jordan decided to start rookie Jrue Holiday against the Warriors last night instead of Brand. Brand's reaction? He wasn't exactly thrilled, to say the least.
Funny quote from Elton Brand: "No disrespect, but, Mikki Moore, he gets to start and I don't."
Burn! Mikki Moore, you listening? You are on notice!
In all seriousness, yeah, it's disrespectful to be benched for a rookie like that, but when your team has lost 12 in a row, nobody's starting job should be safe. Pick up your play, don't whine about it, and maybe you'll get your job back.
