Over at SB Nation’s Raiders blog, Silver and Black Pride, it seems that Charlie Frye is being welcomed with open arms:
Charlie Frye is being looked at by Oakland Raider Head Coach Tom Cable as the man who can save his job. It appears that either Al Davis has lost confidence in JaMarcus Russell or that Tom Cable is taking the “I don’t care, I am going to get fired if I start JaMarcus Russell and lose three straight anyway so I am going to start the guy who gives us the best opportunity to win approach”.
And Raider Nation, I am in 100% percent agreement.
Frye has the ability to opperate in a moving pocket, improvise and throw the deep ball. I have to say that I am very excited to see what he can do in this offense. I am also excited to see Brandon Myers finally get a shot at getting some meaningful reps at the Tight End spot.
No, Raider Nation, this season is not lost, and, what is becoming very clear is that JaMarcus Russell has lost this team and Tom Cable was about to as well, if he stayed with the Me-First Disappointment, JaMarcus Russell.
And really, by embracing Frye-as-starter, the Raiders and their fans have declared Jamarcus Russel a lost cause. Perhaps not in the NFL, but certainly in Oakland, it looks as though Russel’s been an unmitigated failure; “Charlie Frye, starting quarterback” is being held as a welcome alternative to Jamarcus Russell. Enough said, really.
