Cal running back Jahvid Best had not played since that horrific injury and concussion he suffered against Oregon on November 7th. Bear fans have been hopeful that Best would be back in shape in time for the Poinsettia Bowl on Dec. 23 against Utah. For the best, and for Best, Jahvid will sit that game out as well.
"Jahvid will not play," [Jeff] Tedford said when asked about Best's status for the Poinsettia Bowl. "Jahvid is doing excellent, but he's been out a long time and since this game is so early, to get him back in game-ready form I don't feel like that's something that we can get done to have him ready to play. He's doing excellent with his rehab, but this game is so early."
Best finished the season with 16 touchdowns and 867 yards rushing. It remains to be seen if he'll return for his senior season.
