The Minnesota Wild are in crisis mode as their equipment truck was set on fire Friday afternoon in the Scotiabank Place parking lot. The Wild are in Ottawa as they will face the Senators Saturday night. Here are some pictures from our Minnesota Wild site, Hockey Wilderness:
The Minnesota Wild players are holding a meeting at 6pm Friday night to determine what is going to happen and the team has contacted the league to figure out their options for Saturday night's game. The Star Tribune's Micheal Russo explains the seriousness of the situation:
There's lot of concern about playing in new equipment. It's not just a feel thing (it takes players weeks to break in equipment), but a safety thing. Knee braces and stuff like that were destroyed. How do you just throw a new knee brace on a player without making sure it fits properly?
Unfortunately, the Wild are not as hot as their equipment is as they are currently sitting 12th in the Western Conference and do not need another distraction.
