Hockey linesman Kevin Brown is fighting for his life today after his neck was slashed by a skate during a Junior "C" game last night in Woodstock, Ontario.
The Woodstock Renegades' Craig Thomson and Reid Oliver of the New Hamburg Firebirds engaged in a fight midway through the third period on Tuesday night, with the latter's skate slashing linesman Kevin Brown as Oliver was taken to the ice.
Brown was initially reported to be in stable condition, but Renegades owner Bill McLeod says he's been told Brown is "not doing so well now."
The game was suspended and not finished. Reports have stated that Brown skated off the ice but collapsed as he approached the bench. He was in and out of consciousness as he was being treated and transported to the hospital.
Memories of Clint Malarchuk and Richard Zednik immediately come to mind.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Brown and his family.
