Time Warner Cable has been the target of public ire for some time now, since they don't carry the NFL Network. Expect that anger to be ratcheted up a notch or two, because according to a leaked memo from News Corp. President and Chief Operating Officer Chase Carey, it looks as though Time Warner will be losing Fox.
The two sides have been in a disagreement over subscriber fees for months now, and it's looking like a deal won't be reached before Thursday's midnight deadline. This means that "the signals for local Fox TV stations in cities where Time Warner Cable is the distributor will go dark."
What are you missing with no Fox? Sure, House, and maybe Glee ... oh, and American Idol. But those are probably on Hulu or something. OK, so, no big deal, right?
"Other channels that Fox owns that are part of this spat include FX and some regional sports channels including Prime Ticket and Fox Sports West in Los Angeles."
Oh. NFC Playoffs? Fiesta Bowl? Sugar Bowl? Orange Bowl? Yep, all on Fox ... which Time Warner might be losing come Friday ... the same cable provider that already doesn't carry the NFL Network.
Well at least they aren't the cable provider for the country's biggest city, and media capital of the world ... Oh, no.
