If the NBA All-Star Game was held today, the East would feature a guard averaging 15.4 points and 4 assists in just 10 games. The West would feature a guard who has played in six games, averaging 3.2 points. I'm talking about Allen Iverson and Tracy McGrady, respectively.
Yes, the fan vote is kind of a joke. We're looking at you, China. (Check out the full results, to this point, on NBA.com.)
If there's any hope, it's the fact that Steve Nash is roughly 1,000 votes behind T-Mac, a margin easily made up. The real headscratcher is Iverson, who is about 150K clear of the next guard in the East, Orlando's Vince Carter. In a happy world, we'd probably have either Nash or Chris Paul over T-Mac in the West. It's a shame Durant is technically a small forward, because he's lost behind Carmelo Anthony and Dirk Nowitzki. In the East, Iverson should be out and either Joe Johnson or Gilbert Arenas should probably slide in. I'd give the nod to Johnson playing for a winner.
Your other starters in the East are LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Kevin Garnett and Dwight Howard. In the West, in addition to Melo and Dirk, you've got Kobe Bryant and Amare Stoudemire.
Please, NBA fans, band together and correct this.

Iverson and McGrady making the All-Star Game…what is this, 2002?

Why not have the fans vote for the reserves instead?

The vote needs to be taken away from fans (or just China perhaps). McGrady and Iverson have no business being anywhere near this year’s all star game unless they bought tickets.

How close is Darko Milicic?

It won’t do any good. Stern ego will not allow him to give in to the fans. China has no business voting. They don’t see enough games from the other teams. Those two mention above are a joke and the rest of the sporting world are laughing again at stern and the NBA.

They should just list them on the roster as one guy ("Allen McGrady"), and each of them gets to play a half.
