The Rangers traded pitcher Kevin Millwood to the Orioles Wednesday in anticipation of Texas signing another pitcher, Rich Harden:
The Orioles on Wednesday made their first deal of the winter meetings, acquiring veteran starter Kevin Millwood from the Texas Rangers for reliever Chris Ray and a player to be named.
The Orioles will receive an undisclosed amount of cash as part of the deal, according to a team news release officially announcing the trade.
Millwood won 13 games for the Rangers last season while racking up a 3.67 ERA. Ray, who was once the Orioles closer, hasn't been the same since surgery on his right elbow. His ERA ballooned to 7.27 in 43.1 innings last season.
