Attention NYC Poker Players: Learn A-Rod's Tell

Alex Rodriguez (who reportedly tested positive for steroids in 2003) used to be a big user of New York's card rooms, before the Yankees requested he knock it off. And if we learned anything* from Casino Royale a few years ago, it's that everyone has a tell. Deadspin reminds us that on the occasion of Barry Bonds breaking the all-time home run record, A-Rod told Katie Couric he had never taken steroids. (Note: clip begins with a short ad.)

Twitch in the left corner of the mouth. Noted.

* No better way to learn than through Bond films. (Don't tell Matt Damon I said that.)

Awkward and painful to watch.

Who’s gonna bet me Edgar Martinez wasn’t using when A-Rod came up to the M’s?  The big big BIG question for me is with Griffey.  My theory is that he’s the reason Bonds felt the need to use enhancers because of the universal belief that Griffey was and would go down as the best.  Bonds’ ego couldn’t take that.  If Griffey turns up dirty on anyone’s list, I’ll never be the fan of the game that I once was.

Dude, lets keep Griffey out of this. I’m already dissapointed enough as it is, I don’t want to add hypothetical dissapointment on top of it. Had Griffey stayed healthy this would all be a non issue because he’d own the record.

The best on-steroids interview ever was Vince McMahon knocking the papers out of the reporter’s hands. He also bullied that p*ssy Bob Costas around. ARo(i)d should have acted like that.
