Ronald Moore ain't the only fellow with a double order of onions. Mercurial Maryland enigma Greivis Vasquez talked some trash about Saturday opponent Memphis' Conference USA roots in comparison with the Terps' ACC.
Asked about Memphis, Vasquez said during a question-and-answer session: "Their conference is pretty much questionable. They don't have tough games. But I still believe they're good." ...The Tigers looked a bit ... relaxed through the first 3/4 of Thursday's opener. I have a feeling their mood will be different when Vasquez brings the ball up this afternoon.
"They'd have a losing record in the league -- probably win all of their games outside the league, losing record in the league," he said. "The ACC is too tough. You can't just win games night in and night out because you're so athletic."

if you are gonna talk u better walk it. Greivis’s antics on the court are a little annoying, but he’s a heck of a player in the mold of Manu Ginobili. but he was asked a question and answered it, now it goes on the bulletin board in the Memphis locker. can’t wait to see how this one turns out.

3 words for Mr. Vasquez: Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!

Thank you Mr. Vasquez. I was hoping the Tigers could get a little extra fuel to start them back up. You just provided it, Dumb Dora !

Yeah, nice work Vasquez! Memphis wouldn’t have stood a chance if you hadn’t made those comments!

Say what you want about Conf USA vasquez, you’re finding out Memphis would own you.

What do Vasquez and a cue ball have in common? The harder you hit them, the more English you get out of them.

1. CUSA is questionable.
2. The way Memphis is shooting the ball today, they can and will beat anybody.

I was wrong – it looks like Vasquez is gettting his points, even though they are still losing by 20. Looks like he needs to work on his "media-relations" game a little because it’s horrible.

Nice T on Vasquez. I wonder how he’ll address that in the post game?

Chants of ‘ACC’ arise from the Memphis contingent as the Tigers lead expands to 29.

So, the CUSA fans have one good team and think that warrants mocking the ACC? Smart. No one, including Vasquez, said Memphis wasn’t a good team, or wasn’t as good as Maryland. He was simply making the point that CUSA, as a whole, is hot garbage, which is correct.

That 13-4 run by MD to close the game and to 19 was impressive. That was superbly hot garbage (time). Question to Mottram is…would Memphis have won the regular season ACC?
by MemphisBBQ on Mar 21, 2009 5:45 PM EDT reply actions
Not sure. The certainly wouldn’t have a losing record in the ACC. I’d imagine they’d be No. 2, behind UNC.

Mottram!! The ACC has made him look so foolish! Hey the ACC is very good, but Hype vs legitness and its not even close its very overrated, just like the ACC was in CFb this year. Mottram is in the tank!!! Memphis is better than Carolina Mottram, but will have to go against UCONN here soon. UNC prob in the easiest region, and only 1 seed with homefloor adv, its no coincidence we know the NCAA likes to stage events with their favs like ND or OHS in FB. No homestate adv and i really don’t know if they win today against LSU, just one of the little perks you get from NCAA. But remember last year the first game NC played outside of their state was in final four(b.s) they got blown off the floor so this is where it gets interesting with the Heels.

Why do we continue to give good teams bulletin board material? Keep your mouth shut, and prove yourself on the floor.
