There’s a line between journalism and stalking, and a fine one it’s not

What i don’t understand is why the reporter ran after him. Did he think that after Gillespie ignored him than ran away, that if he ran after him all of the sudden he would be ready to talk. At a certain point there, he has to think to himself, i don’t think hes going to talk no matter what i do.

I would love to have seen this reporter do this to a Bob Knight or Jim Calhoun…this was ridiculous.

Please note: this is a Louisville report not from Lexington.

Yup, you got it. Man just got fired, and the houns of the press couldn’t leave him alone for a time to get his face together.
Gilespie just got screwed. I understand that UK officials had what they thought were reasons, yadda yar, but it’s just bullshit. The least they can do is pay the $6 million they owe Gillespie, but it doesn’t appear that they would know common ethics if it bit them on the gluteus maximus.
Look at the bright side – Kentucky still has one first-class hoops program, one run by a UK alum at that! Go Cardinals!…..

I just looked at it again, and it looked worse than the first time.
When the reporter blocked his path Gillespie should have hauled off and busted him one right in the jaw.
The problem is that he would have been arrested, and the jury peopled with loyal UK fans. Gillespie would have wound up in jail. Poor guy just can’t win sometimes.

This show how far UK basketball has fallen. It doesnt matter where the reporter is from, where is the common courtesy a VIP gets when he is on a campus that matters. That would never have happened to a fired coach from ANY school with any clout. 2 Wrongs dont make a right, maybe?
Fact is, UK basketball wont be ANYwhere near a national title or even in the scene for at least several years. The SEC itself only put what, 3 teams in the entire field. Didnt the Atlantic 10 put 3 teams in as well ? Would UK compete in the A10 or conference USA ?
Point is, UK is a second tier team now. A mid major team. 6th in a conference that put 3 teams in the dance. For anybody who thinks the school isnt responsible for this escapade with the reporter is wrong. UK should have treated Coach Gillespie with a little more respect. Who wants to caoach them now? Thier list of prospective coaches just got cut in half.
Kentucky football has more chance of a conference title than the basketball team

Dear Kentucky,
Parity reigns supreme in nearly every professional league and now has made its way down to the college ranks. I know, you are still in denial, you believe that you should be in the Final Four every year and winning the title is your birthright.
It is easier just to be happy with a 20 win season and a postseason bid then to keep canning coaches because they can’t meant your lofty expectations year after year.
Sincerely,
The Here and Now

Wouldn’t it be a strangely enjoyable event if just once a reporter got fired and a herd of coaches ran after him asking "what are you going to do now?" , "why did they fire you?" and of course the obligatory "how do you feel about being fired?"
