Yankees 1, Major League Soccer 0

The Bronx is getting testy. Nevermind the New York media railing on the team's performance, or the national pundits cracking on attendance problems at the new Yankee Stadium. When a Major League Soccer official -- in this case commissioner Don Garber -- so much as mentions empty seats at a home game for the Bombers, the big guns come out.

Take it away, Yankees president Randy "The Butcher" Levine:
"Don Garber discussing Yankee attendance must be a joke," Levine said Friday. "We draw more people in a year than his entire league does in a year. If he ever gets Major League Soccer into the same time zone as the Yankees, we might take him seriously."
Levine's right: the Yankees sell about 1 million more home tickets per season than the entire MLS. With one-third the games. Back to drawing board, Garber.

The hilarious thing is Garber was talking about the economy’s effect on sports, not knocking the Yankees.

If Levine should be pissed at anybody, it’s Bud Selig for saying at the same APSE conference that Hal Steinbrenner admitted to him that they probably overpriced the tickets.
