You could tell early on (first 20 seconds) that this will NOT go well for Jose. Whenever a combatant in a fight, skirmish, altercation or even an argument tries to hit and run simultaneously, ala Carmelo Anthony girly style, it does not bode well for them. Jose "LITERALLY" turned his back and RAN away from the other guy. Most times he turned and ran prior to the punch he was throwing had a chance to land. There was no follow thru on his punch. His follow thru was to catch the first thing thing leaving town. Unfortunately he would try to get out town in the middle of his punch. I know that he hurt his leg during this fight, but he hurt it trying to run while punching.
In Jose defense I will state that he fought an ex-military kick boxer who JUST happened to be a foot taller and probably 50 – 75 pounds heavier than Jose’s 6’ – 4" inch 230 -240 lb. frame.

It was a no-brainer that Jose would lose against a kickboxer with experience at the K-1 level. Canseco also didn’t bother to train in MMA. This fight was a joke on an otherwise solid card.

Canseco had guts to fight. I’ll give him credit for that. However, he should have never been in the ring in the first place. He clearly has trained to some degree, but him stepping in with a pro-fighter would be like a pro-fighter trying to have a home-run-derby with Canseco.

The outcome of this fight was known the second Canseco accepted the fight. It was a joke designed to turn eyes to an organization that is in danger of losing their prime-time slot on tv in Japan. Jose is lucky Choi played nice and didn’t decide to really hurt Canseco.

i DONT CARE WHT people say about Jose, he fought a guy that is enormous, someone that none of us will not even think of fighting
and he gave him a little run for his time…actually , Canseco did get 3 very very good punches…the korean did nothing to Jose but pound him on his head, like 5 times….from the back of the neck?
bottom line, Jose got guts and he is very good..give him time
the only negative thing i see happening here is Jose’s age..its getting to him a little….and to 308 VET….Canseco is 100 pounds lighter that Choi, not 60/70…….100 pounds…and 10 inches shorter
but remenber, not everybody is like that in Dream 9..Jose can beat a lot of these fighters if his knee let him

They should put Canseco, Ryan Leaf, Favre, and the rest of those self absorbed, narcisistic phuckheads into a cage, close the door and gas em. What a waste.

You know what impressed me? The sportsmanship shown by Choi when he helped Jose back to his feet after the match. When was the last time you saw anything like that in a UFC match?
by mommadillo on May 27, 2009 7:34 AM EDT reply actions
mommadillo, not necessarily helping the other fighter up, but I see sportsmanship all the time in the UFC. The athletes almost always show respect for each other.

Can we just quit messing around and have Jose box a kangaroo on a garbage skiff already? I think it’s time.

OK, OK he got beat by a very big guy. That doesn’t make him brave. It makes him stupid. He should have learned his lesson when he got his a$$ kicked by a much smaller Vai Sikahema a few years ago.
