Plaschke's Outrage Is Slightly Disproportionate to That of the Average Dodgers Fan

Bill Plaschke, ladies and gentlemen, champion for the outraged Dodgers fan. Shortly after news broke yesterday of Manny’s failed test, he was all over ESPN, yelling for Manny to be hanged in a public square ... or kicked off the Dodgers ... or some other nonsensical outrage. I don’t know, he was kind of rambling and incoherent. He was really, really upset by all of this.

Sometime between then and now, he took a deep breath and put all his emotions down on paper. His column in the L.A. Times this morning spans the entire spectrum of clichéd sports columnist anger. Suggest the team should dump Manny despite realizing that’s not possible? Check. Discuss the severe impact this will have on the kids? Check (twice). Claim, as he did on ESPN yesterday, that he saw this coming last year? Check. Most importantly: Accurately channel the voice of the fans and mirror the outrage they’re feeling? Judge for yourself:

Well, uh, they clearly just happened to find the dozen or so fans that aren’t ANGRY about all of this. Yeah, that’s it. Besides, as Plaschke writes in his column, Manny “must come clean for the media who will relay his message to the fans who he has turned to suckers.” See?! These fans have all been suckered! Brain-washed into not being upset! Plaschke, though, is not so easily duped. He’s a trained professional, folks.

Bill Plaschke is just an angry little man looking for attention. He saw an opportunity to go overboard and he took it.. There’s been far worse than what Manny has done so far and he probably reacted in the most outrageous way.

His credibility, if he had any.. Took a hit with his ridiculous rants.
