Chicago Fire Fans Take Team Name a Bit Too Seriously, and We Can't Thank Them Enough



Quick: This picture is taken in A) A war-torn portion of the Middle East; B) The bowels of Hell; C) oh, I guess you saw the title and already know the answer.

That's the "Section 8" gang of fans for the Chicago Fire, reenacting the horrific 1871 disaster from which the franchise takes its name and setting off some mildly illegal flares during a match last night with visiting Houston. Section8Chicago.com has posted even more pictures, and they're wonderful.

We'd post a YouTube from the stadium itself, but it was apparently recorded inside the voice box of a very tone-deaf Chicago fan trying to engage in the chants with the rest of the crowd. For the sake of your eardrums, we'll pass. Instead, here's video of the visiting team's announcers, noticing the unfolding war zone and reacting with an appropriate amount of anger fear disgust envy:
