Matt Bush, Not Doing So Well of Late

Like in any sport, the top pick in the MLB draft is never a sure thing. Some years you get Joe Mauer. Other years you get Brien Taylor. There will be guys in between who never reach MVP/All-Star status and never flame out, but sometimes ... well, sometimes you draft a special player who pays back your investment with a video like the one below five years after the fact.

That's video from the arrest of Matt Bush, the former No. 1 overall selection of the San Diego Padres in the 2004 MLB draft. He plead not guilty to a DUI, resisting arrest and drunken driving charges.

Bush isn't even actually in baseball anymore -- he was released by the Blue Jays earlier this season -- but try to find the silver lining in this folks. For a few days, Ryan Leaf wasn't the first guy everyone thinks of when you say "former top pick by a San Diego team to have a very public meltdown." No, for at least a few days, Matt Bush went ahead and stole that show.

That was kind of sad.  I wonder if he used his skills to go to college and get an education or was he drafted out of high school?
