UPDATE: Direct from Harpo we have confirmed that the episode has already been shot and it will air on Friday, Sept. 11. (Check local listings for air time.)Per SI's Richard Deitsch, Erin Andrews will break her silence on -- well you know what on -- while talking with Oprah Winfrey. E-mails to Harpo to confirm the story have gone unreturned at time of publication.
Per Deitsch, the episode will air on Sept. 11, which undoubtedly will upset millions of people who will think it's ridiculous that Oprah is focusing on this story on that day. But that's not Andrews' fault, and the fact of the matter is, regardless of the timeslot, there's no better place for her to go than to Oprah. It's where Marion Jones went, well, before prison. It's where Tom Cruise went to announce he was crazy ... in love. It's where Michael Vick should have gone.
Oprah is America, so there's no better couch for EA to sit on and tell her side of the story. The interesting thing will be what she says. If you've heard the 911 tapes from Andrews calling police because 'media' people were staking out her residence and knocking on the door, you know that she's rightfully ticked off about being at the center of this situation. So will anger come out? Will fear? Will she cry? Will Oprah cry? Will Maggie laugh? (She's such a trooper.)
Everyone will be watching. Everyone will react. And then hopefully we can all go back to our regularly scheduled football sidelines.
