The NBA financial apocalypse continues. Quality players like David Lee and Raymond Felton, both of whom likely would have garnered multi-year offers in plusher years, continue to sit on the sidelines waiting for deals. The NBA league office has layed off scores of employees. And now team offices appear to be next in line on the proverbial financial chopping block.
Heat team president (and coach-in-waiting?) Pat Riley and head coach Eric Spoelstra headlined the names of Heat front office personnel taking pay cuts for the coming season. The Heat were particularly hard hit financially last season (playing in one of the epicenters of the foreclosure crisis probably had something do with that), so perhaps they are a bit of outlier compared to other teams. Still, if Riles is not safe from having his salary reduced, who is in the NBA?
