Gustavsson's Surgery Goes Smoothly, Expected to Rejoin Leafs Soon

Goaltender Jonas Gustavsson, a Swedish rookie with the Toronto Maple Leafs, had successful surgery Tuesday to correct an abnormal heartbeat. He is expected to rejoin the team in a few days.

His quick recovery is great news, to be sure, but the operation hardly sounds fun:

Doctors examined Gustavsson and decided to operate Tuesday, a procedure which involves inserting a catheter through the groin to fix an abnormal heartbeat.

Ouch.
