…is a lock-in! And the NBA referees union, borrowing an idea from lame seventh grade planning committees all across the country, have set up camp in a Chicago hotel. And nobody’s leaving until tomorrow morning! they have a new contract with the NBA.
From Howard Beck at the Times:
"The referees are locking themselves in, in an effort to get a deal done as soon as possible," Lamell McMorris, the referees’ chief negotiator, said just after midnight, following the marathon meeting. We are staying here all night trying to come up with a counterproposal.
The NBA has yet to comment, but methinks this show of good faith could lead to a MORP invitation from David Stern.
