Phoenix Coyote Bankruptcy Case Continues and the Team Signs Taylor Pyatt

The Coyotes bankruptcy case headed back to court today with Judge Redfield T. Baum hearing arguments on the merit of Jim Balsillie's bid due to the NHL board of governors rejecting him as an owner and whether any decision will be made by Balisillie's deadline of September 14th.

What has come out of the case are a few things:

  • Judge Baum does not want to rule out anyone from bidding on this team whether it be Balsillie or any other prospective buyer that would be interested in the team.
  • Baum has stated that his decisions on the ownership matters will happen before the season starts but it may not happen by Balsillie's deadline.
  • Hearings on a possible relocation fee will be September 10-11th.
  • SOF investments have revealed they have made an agreement with the NHL regarding the NHL's bid.  SOF investments is the second largest creditor in this case.

Also in team news, the Coyotes have signed Taylor Pyatt to a one-year deal.  Pyatt played the last three seasons with the Canucks while also playing with the Sabres and Islanders in his career.
