Don't Panic, But DHS Is Here to Panic You

Going to live sporting events is a frightening enough affair, what with all the lady-brawling going on in the the stands already. What you don’t need is an ominous sounding warning from DHS reminding you that somewhere in this world, there is someone who might want to make it more even more dangerous than it already is.

The bulletin on stadiums notes that an al-Qaida training manual specifically lists “blasting and destroying the places of amusement, immorality, and sin… and attacking vital economic centers” as desired targets of the organization.

I’d never thought of any stadium as a place of immorality and sin, really. Okay, well, maybe Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, but that’s a fun kind of immorality and sin, not the bad kind. The warnings mentioned a possible bombing plot in New York City and Denver, and listed nothing else specifically in terms of location. So if you live in [any place goes here,] feel free to be totally freaked out and worried for the rest of the day. I mean, um, be “vigilant.”
