So say the folks over at SB Nation NBDL blog Ridiculous Upside. Some background: last week the owner of the NBDL's Utah franchise apparently offered troubled former Celtic Stephon Marbury a spot on their roster. Ridiculous Upside was not amused. After noting that individual NBDL teams technically can not sign players, Ridiculous Upside points out that this transparent ploy to get fans in the seats undermines the NBDL's basic premise - you know, to actually develop young players, rather than showcase headline-grabbing has-beens. That's what the "D" stands for, after all.
And besides, if the NBDL really wants to create buzz, they could just invite His Airness and his former whipping boy to lace 'em up and settle things once and for all. Who wouldn't pay to see that?
