Let's just get the timeline straight on the KU Brawl-O-Rama going on between members of the KU football team and the Jayhawk basketball squad. Ready ... go.
One: Members of the Kansas basketball team got into at least two fights beginning with a brawl that started sometime around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday evening, according to KUSports.com. Tyshawn Taylor, a member of the KU basketball team, was involved and dislocated his thumb, an injury that will keep him out for 3-4 weeks. A crowd assembled outside a dorm at 10:30 p.m. in what is presumed to be a related incident, but was dispersed by campus cops. Fights. They happen. No big deal, right?
Two: Taylor confirms the injury on Facebook. This message is preceded by defiant messages to someone in unpunctuated quotes lifted from Li'l Wayne lyrics. For instance:
"keep my name out ya’ mouth for you get smacked in it," he wrote at 11:12 a.m. Tuesday, and 30 minutes later he posted, "never get outta character .. I’m always a G about it."
About 4 p.m., Taylor posted, "(racial slur)s be muggin me ..you know I’m mugging back."
Three: This isolated on-campus scuffle drags into the next day (Wednesday) when a member of the Jayhawk football team is allegedly pushed down stairs by members of the KU basketball team at around 9:48 a.m.
Skevington said she heard a football player yell, "What did you say?" at 9:48 a.m. and run up a set of stairs behind Budig Hall. Skevington said she saw one of the Morris twins throw the football player down the stairs. She said the football player fell backwards down six stairs before being caught by a fellow football player. She said immediately after, several pairs of football and basketball players began fighting.
Police had to provide escorts in order to get players in for questioning about the incident, which started--eyeroll--over a girl, and has resulted in not just this series of fights, but several ones preceding it. There is allegedly video on the way, which I don't want to get excited about, because that would be immature, but fight! Come and look everyone, there's a fight over here! FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!!!
