With training camps opening throughout the league over the next few days, it’s official: basketball’s almost here, folks. In 29 days (not that I’m counting or anything), Cleveland and Boston will tip off the ’09 NBA season, followed by Lakers-Clippers later that night. Excited yet?
Knicks fans are, but like the New York Daily News, they’ve got their eyes on the real prize in all of this:
The countdown has officially begun. In 275 days, LeBron James can become a free agent and possibly change the course of Knicks history.
The prospect of LeBron in a Knicks uniform makes what happens between today (the start of training camp) and July 1 (the first day of free agency) seem rather trivial.
But don’t they know he’s going to the Nets?
