Hopefully you’re sitting down for this one: there is unrest and controversy within the Oakland Raiders. And somewhat amazingly, it’s coming from the team’s newest member, Richard Seymour.
Yesterday, Seymour was flagged 14 yards for pulling the hair of Broncos OT Ryan Clady. Two plays later, Denver scored. After the game, reporter Lowell Cohn confronted Seymour about the follicle foul. That’s when things got bad.
Cohn: You were pissed?
Seymour: It wasn’t no mistake, brother. Next question.
Cohn: Is there something wrong with the question? Why did you do it?
Seymour: You asked if it was a mistake and I told you no. Get out of here.
Cohn: Why do I get out of here? You don’t like to talk about that.
Seymour: Get out of here.
Cohn: I’m not getting out of here.
Then, according to Cohn, Raiders PR guy Mike Taylor asked the reporter to leave. Eventually, Cohn did, going back up to the press box to finish his game story. It was there that Taylor confronted Cohn again, and “berated [Cohn] for about 10 minutes” and “called [Cohn] an unflattering name.”
Player pulls hair. Reporter asks player about hair-pulling, Player gets mad at reporter, asks him to leave. Reporter doesn’t leave. PR guy makes reporter leave. Reporter gets upset. PR guy yells at reporter. Reporter writes about it all.
Just another day in Raider Nation.
