What do Carlos Boozer, Trevor Ariza, Gilbert Arenas, Michael Redd, and Monta Ellis have in common? If you said, “they all played in the NBA’s rookie game at All-Star Weekend!” then you obviously didn’t read the headline. They all began their career as afterthought additions from the second round.
Over at Ball Don’t Lie, Kelly Dwyer runs down the top 10 second round picks of the decade. It’s an entertaining case study in our collective idiocy, and a reminder: talent evaluation is not a science. Or, if it is, we’re all a bunch of terrible scientists.
