MJD at Shutdown Corner is quite pleased with the decision to start Stafford. Not because it was necessarily the right decision, but because it's the entertaining one -- and that's what this football stuff is all about, right?

Schwartz just named Matthew Stafford as his starting quarterback to open the 2009 season, which makes the Lions about 700% more interesting. But he's also got the cannon to make some brilliant throws downfield to the uncoverable Calvin Johnson. I'll take Stafford's flashes of brilliance over the slow and steady flow of mediocrity that oozes out of Culpepper.
Correct. I tuned into a couple Lions preseason games just to watch Stafford. And to make myself feel better about my team. But more so the Stafford thing.
